Salad "Olivje"

You need the following ingredients: Cooked potatoes, canned peans, salted ( marinated) cucumbers, sausage ( or meat or bird or chicken ), eggs, majonnaise, onions and some dill, or parsley for decoration.







Start with boiled, cooled and chopped potatoes.











..add sausages ( or bird and meat. Originally two different things were used: Willow Grouse breast and Veal tongue)









Add salted ( marinated) cucumbers.












...and then eggs. Remember to cook the eggs well, so that you are able to chop them small enough.










Beans. ( ..in "sovjet time" beans were canned, so canned beans OK :-)











At last add some onions. Do not use too much onions. Salad is very mild in taste and too much onions will hide all other flavors...









Mix all together with mayonnaise. In Russia mayo is very, very light in taste and, atleast here in Finland they all arme stronger, even the most lightest one. So you have two options: Do mayonnaise yourself or mix ready mayo with smetana ( 50/50).
